It all started in the year 2005, when high school friends from Manipur scattered in different places like Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Tamil Nadu started to reconnect through the Internet, basically emails.  Exchange of casual emails and light discussions about topics such as Rock music & Rock bands of Manipur eventually led them to further talk about the declining condition of Manipur.  Motivated to do what they could for the new generation of Manipur, Manipur Foundation was born.

Members decided to pool money to support students who showed good grades at school yet did have enough money to study further. However, their contribution could not be made steady and stable as some members themselves were students or on the look out for jobs, and few working. By mid 2006, Manipur Foundation was in a dormant state.

Around mid 2007, discussions via emails with a like-minded young gentleman from Delhi who shared his thoughts to MF, members realized that there could be number of others also who shared the same burden as MF and who would be willing to help. By late 2007, Manipur Foundation, with renewed spirit revived their burden for the future generations of Manipur changed its name to Manipur Youth Foundation.

Today, Manipur Youth Foundation has over 50 members across the globe, supporting 6 students in Manipur.

Funding

MYF does not have any funding system from any external agencies.  The only source of fund is from members’ minimum contribution of 100 INR per month.
